The Institute for the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems presents four awards, the A. K. Oppenheim Prize, the R. I. Soloukhin Award, the N. Manson Medal, and since 2013, the JHS Lee Young Investigator Award. Nominations for the awards are solicited from the community during the year prior to the ICDERS at which the awards are presented.
NUMA MANSON MEDAL for distinguished contributions to the dynamics of explosions and reactive systems. This medal is given to a mature scientist who is distinguished by lifelong accomplishments that have elucidated prominent features of the dynamics of explosions and reactive systems.
A.K. OPPENHEIM PRIZE for brilliant contributions to the theoretical or interpretative aspects of the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems. This is intended for an active scientist who is distinguished by showing how to analyze or what it means.
R.I. SOLOUKHIN AWARD for outstanding contributions to the experimental or diagnostics aspects of the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems. This is intended for an active scientist who is distinguished by showing how to measure or what is its value.
JOHN H. S. LEE YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD SPONSORED BY FM GLOBAL The purpose of the award is to encourage young scientists to undertake research in the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems. Recipients must be either students or combustion scientists who have received their PhD (or equivalent) within the last three years before the Colloquium, and an author of a paper accepted for the Colloquium.
Nominations for the N. Manson Medal, A. K. Oppenheim Prize, R. I. Soloukhin and John H.S. Lee Awards are now being accepted. Please see the Call for Senior Awards and Call for Lee Awards for nomination details.
