Award Nominations

The Institute for the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems invites nominations for A. K. Oppenheim Prize and R. I. Soloukhin Award, to be presented at the 22nd ICDERS. Note that the N. Manson Medal will not be given in 2009 but will be awarded in 2011. The citations and criteria for these awards are:

A.K. OPPENHEIM PRIZE for brilliant contributions to the theoretical or interpretative aspects of the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems. This is intended for an active scientist who is distinguished by showing how to analyze or what it means.

R.I. SOLOUKHIN AWARD for outstanding contributions to the experimental or diagnostics aspects of the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems. This is intended for an active scientist who is distinguished by showing how to measure or what is its value.

Nominations should be sent directly to the President of IDERS, Prof J. E. Shepherd by May 8, 2009. Apart from the usual biographical data, C.V. publication list, etc. the nominator is requested to seek as many supporting letters as possible from Colleagues who are familiar with the Candidate’s scientific work and its impact on the field, his reputation and stature in the scientific community. A proposed citation for the Candidate should also be submitted.
